Lovikka (2016)

Lovikka 1

Lovikka 2

Lovikka consists of two hand woven spatial objects in conversation with material, structure, function, light and room.

During the process the artist has made an effort to explore textile/architectural borders. Mostly within technical and material domains, but also in relation to function and interior architecture.

Material and technique has been interacting to go beyond traditional possibilities and straight answers. The capacity of the threads to shape into three dimensional structures together with the weave technique make up the foundation of the work. The function has during the process been secondary, perhaps even uninteresting.

When the object meets a new space, questions arise about the value of hand woven objects in architectural contexts.
